Tuesday
Woke to CBC hosts on CIUT, interviewing Suba Sankaran - Trichy's daughter - and Ed Hanley. They're doing well with Autorickshaw. Funny, I could be living in her basement right now.
A group soundscape project in our first music class this morning. An apple juice box and a pied piper.
A gurney passed by me, covered in pizza boxes, destined for a godless fate somewhere in that building I've just left. The student centre is an horniguero - an ant farm - today. I had to get out.
This afternoon, the first biology class. Larry has some issues with the Ontario curriculum. We do a "jigsaw" exercise, and one of the guys in my group seems perplexed.
Made dinner for Amber tonight. Our first roommate meal. Braised catfish with artichoke hearts.
Dropped in on Keith at Hart House. The symphonic band was reading through Superman. Not bad for a first run, and the brass seems solid. Two bassoons is a nice change too. Don't think I should commit to playing baritone sax, but he talks me into coming back next week. I'm such a sucker. Maybe he'll let me guest-conduct...
I call up Trichy and make a date to meet for the textbook project. He's glad I'm back in town, because he knows he'll never finish it on his own. We have a deadline: December 1. That's when he leaves for India. I hope we can finally pack it in. And maybe I can get some lessons while I'm at it. A mrdangam for Christmas... that would be nice.
